If you want to use WhatsApp on a PC, you can do so with WhatsApp Web. Until now, it was common to identify yourself using a QR code. WhatsApp is now introducing a biometric login function.
Open WhatsApp Web on the desktop , select the function of the same name via the WhatsApp menu on the smartphone and then scan the QR code on the screen with the mobile phone camera – that was the usual procedure to use the messenger on the laptop, tablet, etc. can. A multi-device function is promised, but not yet there. WhatsApp has now announced on Twitter that it will introduce biometric identification. In the future, users will be able to identify themselves using fingerprints or Face ID.

WhatsApp’s announcement of the new security feature was published on January 28th. It says that the rollout should start on the same day. The function should therefore be available to users within the next few weeks.

WhatsApp expressly emphasizes that biometric registration does not save fingerprint or face scan data. Instead, use the interfaces provided by Android and iOS for processing the data. Many other apps that work with biometric registration do the same.
Devices from iOS 14 and Android devices with corresponding biometric approval are supported. Of course, the prerequisite is that the end device has a fingerprint sensor and a corresponding camera.
