The new series and films on Sky in May

Sky is one of the largest streaming providers in Germany. With the subscription or the monthly cancelable Sky Ticket, users can stream a lot of films and the latest series. TECHNOLOGY BUTTON reveals which Sky innovations await us in May.

The large Sky subscription and the Sky ticket can be used both as an annual subscription and as a monthly package that can be canceled. The provider bundles the series via Sky Entertainment, while film fans can find suitable content at Sky Cinema. After the changeover in July 2020, the latter is no longer available as a single package. If you want to watch films on Sky, you have to book the “Sky Entertainment and Cinema” package. The pay TV and streaming provider is regularly expanding the packages. In May 2021, Sky will again have some innovations in the program. TECHNOLOGY BUTTON gives an overview of the new program.

Sky Entertainment: New series in May

In the series area, subscribers can look forward to a new season of the popular comedy series “The Goldbergs” on Sky in May. With “Wynonna Earp” and “SWAT”, other well-known series with new seasons are also coming to the provider, which focuses on major current American productions.

Mare of Easttown (May 21)

The American miniseries starring Kate Winslet is coming to Sky at the end of May. The Oscar winner is investigating a mysterious murder as a small town policeman. At the same time, she has to struggle with various problems, such as a rebellious teenage daughter, in her private life – now almost freakishly.

Sky Cinema: New films in May

As usual, Sky’s range of films in May is diverse. With the action films “Trauma Center” and “Shadow”, things get dark and fast. Keanu Reeves shines next to Alex Winter in a new “Bill & Ted” part and in “The Most Beautiful Time of Our Lives” a completely disaffected comic artist gets to know each other through a crazy theater reconstruction project. There is something for every film fan!

The Richard Jewell Case (May 8th)

On July 27, 1996, former police officer Richard Jewell noticed a suspicious backpack at an Atlanta Olympics venue and had the area evacuated. Shortly afterwards, a bomb exploded there, and his decisive action saved lives. At first Jewell is celebrated for this, but then he himself is suspected of being a terrorist. The film can be seen on Sky from May 8, 2021 and tells of the exciting investigative work in a real case, but above all of a man who is innocently suspected.

Out of Play – The way back (from May 15th)

In “Out of Play – The Way Back”, Ben Affleck plays a former basketball talent who withdrew from sport and the public for unexplained reasons. Now an alcoholic, he now lives in a shabby apartment. When he receives the offer to train the basketball team at his school, it gives him the chance to come to terms with his past.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (since April 6th)

The American improvisation sitcom “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Is finally getting a tenth season. The series tells partly real, partly fictitious about the everyday life of the “Seinfeld” co-inventor Larry David. He and his wife (Cheryl Hines) live in an affluent part of LA, have a large group of friends and are socially involved. In the 30 to 60 minute episodes, humorous subliminal social criticism plays a major role. There is a thematic script, but the dialogues are all improvised. Incidentally, an eleventh season has already been commissioned.

Tenet (since April 23)

The action sci-fi film “Tenet” by Christopher Nolan was one of the most successful, but also most discussed films of 2020. A nameless CIA agent (John David Washington) becomes a member of a secret organization that wants to prevent World War III. In doing so, they repeatedly come across mysterious objects from the future that move backwards through time. Together with his partner (Robert Pattinson), the protagonist sets out to prevent the war of the times. Also part of the party: Kenneth Branagh as the villain.
