Sky is one of the largest streaming providers in Germany. With the subscription or the monthly cancelable Sky Ticket, users can stream loads of films and the latest series. TECNOLOGY BUTTONTEC reveals which Sky innovations await us in April.
The large Sky subscription and the Sky ticket can be used both as an annual subscription and as a monthly package. The provider bundles the series via Sky Entertainment, while film fans can find suitable content at Sky Cinema. After the changeover in July 2020, the latter is no longer available as a single package. If you want to watch films on Sky, you have to book the “Sky Entertainment and Cinema” package. The pay TV and streaming provider is regularly expanding the packages. In April 2021, Sky will again have some innovations in the program. TECHNOLOGY BUTTON gives an overview of the new program.

Sky Entertainment: New series in April
In the series area, subscribers can look forward to a season of the popular comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on Sky in April. With “The Good Doctor”, “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med”, other well-known series with new seasons are also coming to the provider, which focuses on large American productions. “Resident Alien”, “The Nevers”, “Para – Wir sind King” and “Alive and Kicking”, on the other hand, are brand new series that are celebrating their German premiere on Sky.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (from April 6th)
The American improvisation sitcom “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (also known in Germany as “Lass es, Larry!”) Is finally getting a tenth season. The series tells partly real, partly fictitious about the everyday life of the “Seinfeld” co-inventor Larry David. He and his wife (Cheryl Hines) live in an affluent part of LA, have a large group of friends and are socially involved. In the 30 to 60 minute episodes, humorous subliminal social criticism plays a major role. There is a thematic script, but the dialogues are all improvised. Incidentally, an eleventh season has already been commissioned.
Shameless (from April 12th)
The Gallagher family comes back in the final eleventh season of “Shameless”: the irresponsible, alcoholic father Frank (William H. Macy), his dutiful daughter Fiona (Emily Rossum), the intelligent Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and the other four children . The Corona issue also plays a major role in the new season in the chaos family. Frank has to deal with the traces of years of alcohol abuse and Lip and Debbie (Emma Kenney) struggle with their roles as the new heads of the family.
Sky Cinema: New Films in April
As usual, Sky’s range of films in April is diverse. With the action films “Sniper: Assassin’s End”, “Killers Anonymous” and “Tenet” it gets dark and fast. Tom Hanks shines as TV legend Fred Rogers in the biopic “The Wonderful Mr. Rogers”. “The Stockholm Story” focuses on the famous bank robbery from 1973, which gave the Stockholm Syndrome its name. Another highlight is the biopic about the stand-up comedian Pete Davidson, “The King of Staten Island”.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (from April 5th)
Sullen journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) doesn’t really feel like traveling to Philadelphia for an article. He is supposed to interview Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks), who is best known for his children’s series “Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood”. If he searches for scandalous stories in the life of Rogers at the beginning, he quickly finds out that he is dealing with a special person. An intimate friendship develops between the two men and Rogers helps Vogel to return to the fundamental values of humanity.
Tenet (from April 23)
The action sci-fi film “Tenet” by Christopher Nolan was one of the most successful, but also the most talked about of 2020. A nameless CIA agent (John David Washington) becomes a member of a secret organization that wants to prevent World War III. In doing so, they repeatedly come across mysterious objects from the future that move backwards through time. Together with his partner (Robert Pattinson), the protagonist sets out to prevent the war of the times. Also part of the party: Kenneth Branagh as the villain.
