The 12 best series and films about the fall of the Berlin Wall

The fall of the Berlin Wall is a historic event that has been extensively dealt with. But if documentaries and history books are too boring for you, we have compiled the most exciting series and films on the subject for you.

A date steeped in history

Somehow the Germans seem to have it with this date. The  Nov. 9  has burned seven times in the history – and with two exceptions almost always negative.

In 1848  Robert Blum, a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly – the first democratically elected parliament – was executed in Germany. It was the end of the March Revolution. In 1918  , however, the Weimar Republic and with it the end of the German Empire was proclaimed on the same date. As we know, this did not last very long.

As early as  1923  Hitler tried to overthrow the government together with General Ludendorff. The coup fails. It was not entirely by chance that he chose the same date 15 years later for the  November programs in which Jewish shops and establishments were looted and set on fire.

In 1967  the motto of the 1968 movement “Under the gowns – mustard of 1000 years” was chosen – among other things, this also resulted in the RAF terror up into the 80s. Not entirely unintentionally, a left-wing radical terrorist organization chose  this date in 1969  to carry out an arson attack on a Jewish community center in Berlin. Fortunately, it failed.

The second positive event in our history on  November 9th, 1989:  the rather accidental but inevitable fall of the Berlin Wall. You can’t believe it if you weren’t there. Nobody thought that would happen. Sometimes history can be crazy.  Well, now the history lesson is over.

Because it’s actually much more exciting to  easily watch such historical events again with a dash of fiction in our favorite films and series .
