After what felt like an eternity, the video-on-demand service provider is relaunching the cult series and once again thematizes the life of columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her friends. But not all are on board.
R.and around the turn of the millennium “Sex and the City” was one of the most popular US series. Millions of fans followed the romance and adventures of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. Despite the great success, the series came to an end after six seasons. Although a prequel and sequels in the form of the movies “Sex and the City – The Film” and “Sex and the City 2” were released afterwards, there was no serial continuation. But now there is good news for fans as HBO Max opens a new chapter for “Sex and the City”. The series is called “And Just Like That” and is based on the “Sex and the City” book and the TV show. Almost all of the leading actresses are there again. But only almost.
Sex and the City: bitchy bombshell is missing
Actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon return to the roles of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes. According to the media report, the story focuses on the lives of women who have now reached their fifties in terms of age. Kim Cattrall, who played the sexually confident Samantha Jones in “Sex and the City”, will not be part of the series. Behind the scenes there was a huge crash between her and Sarah Jessica Parker, so that the two no longer want to work together. Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t seem to mind that much. Instead, she already shared a first teaser with scenes from Manhattan on Instagram.
Sex and the City: when does it start?
Despite all the euphoria, fans should be patient. So far there is no known start date for the “Sex and the City” sequel. Apart from the video snippets and the announcement, there is no further material to follow. However, it should be certain that the series runs on HBO Max. The streaming service will be available in Europe from 2021.
