Sky and Amazon Prime Video have entered into a partnership that gives customers better access to the two streaming services. In the next step, Sky comes on Amazon hardware. TECHNOLOGY BUTTON summarizes.
Sky customers have already had access to the Amazon Prime Video app via the Sky TV stick or the Q receiver since the end of 2020. But now comes the next step in the partnership between the two companies, which has long been awaited by some users: Sky apps are now also available on the Amazon Fire TV stick.

Sky Ticket on the Amazon Fire TV
Up to now, Sky Ticket customers mostly needed the Sky streaming stick itself in order to conveniently stream the program of their booked streaming package on the television. With the partnership between Amazon and Sky, this has now come to an end. The Sky Ticket app can now be accessed on selected Fire TV devices. This can be done conventionally via the menu or via the Alexa voice remote control with the command “Alexa, open Sky Ticket”. Thus, the Amazon Video app is now not only on Sky hardware, but the Sky Ticket app also on Amazon hardware such as the Fire TV Stick (2nd and 3rd generation), Fire TV Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick 4K to find.
But not only the Sky Ticket app itself is available to users on the Fire TV, they can also access their watch list via the streaming stick and continue playing content at the point where they were on another device have finished.

At the beginning of the cooperation in December 2020, Sky made Amazon Prime Video available on its own hardware as a first step. TECHNOLOGY BUTTON tested the “Amazon Prime Video” app on the Sky-Q receiver at the time. In order to be able to start the Amazon streaming program, we first had to call up the service via voice control with the command “Start Prime Video”. The application is now also available directly in the app overview. Both services are connected with just a few clicks and we were able to start Prime Video via Sky. The integration of Sky Ticket on the Amazon hardware is now similarly intuitive.
Better availability for Amazon Prime Video and Sky Ticket
With the integration of its app, Amazon is following competitors such as Netflix or YouTube, whose apps have been available via Sky and Amazon for a long time. The availability of Sky in the Amazon hardware is just another step for both companies in expanding their cooperation. Many users have waited a long time for such better availability of the Sky Ticket app. So far, they mostly needed the Sky streaming stick itself or a Google Chromecast to stream the program on the television.
