Honor is bringing Google apps to its smartphones again
The spin-off from the parent company Huawei brought Honor the desired success. The company can now bring smartphones with Google services back onto the market. With the Honor 50 and 50 Pro, the manufacturer already has two models ready.
Honor has just launched its latest line of smartphones in China. An international market launch has already been confirmed. Thus, both the Honor 50 and the Honor 50 Pro also come to Germany. Both new smartphones have a decisive advantage over the Honor devices from the past two years: they come with Google apps.
Unlike the former parent company Huawei, Honor is not on the US blacklist, which prohibits domestic companies like Google from doing business with the manufacturer. Huawei sold Honor in November 2020 , the manufacturer has been an independent company since April 2021 and can operate without the restrictions to which Huawei is subject.
Honor 50 (Pro) designed for video bloggers
The Honor 50 series is now the first smartphone range to benefit from this step. Overall, however, nothing has changed in the direction of Honor. The company continues to target a rather young target group. This is shown by the focus on vlogging, i.e. recording short videos. The Honor 50 Pro is equipped with two video cameras on the front – a 12-megapixel camera with 100-degree wide-angle and 18-mm focal length for portraits and a 32-megapixel camera. The Honor 50, on the other hand, does without the second lens. The front camera is supported by AI Wide-Angle Smart Switching and a Super Night Mode for well-lit pictures and videos at night.
Both smartphones have a quad camera on the back, consisting of a 108-megapixel wide-angle camera, an additional 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. New modes make it possible to use both the sensors of the front and rear cameras at the same time. In addition, the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro have three microphones to capture the sound as clearly as possible during vlogging.

Honor smartphones available in two sizes
The difference between the two smartphones in the series is, among other things, the display. While the Honor 50 is equipped with a display diagonal of 6.57 inches, the Pro model comes with a larger 6.72-inch screen. In both cases, the display glass is slightly curved. The AMOLED screens of both devices have a full HD + resolution, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz.
The processor is also identical in both. Honor relies on the upper mid-range Snapdragon 778G. Not only does it promise high performance, it also supports 5G. At 4300 mAh, the battery capacity of the Honor 50 is slightly higher than the 4000 mAh of the Pro model. In return, the Honor 50 Pro can be charged faster thanks to 100 instead of 66 watts.
Honor is launching both the 50 and 50 Pro in different memory sizes. However, it is not yet clear which of them will end up in stores in this country. In China, the Honor 50 is available with 8 GB of RAM and either 128 or 256 GB of internal storage or with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The manufacturer offers the Honor 50 Pro with 8 or 12 GB and 256 GB each.
Honor has not yet announced what the smartphones will cost in Germany and when they will be available in this country.
