Google search trends 2020 – what moved us particularly this year

2020 was a special year. Last but not least, the corona pandemic has kept people around the world in suspense. But besides Corona there are other topics that we were particularly interested in this year. Google revealed the terms that are the most trending in 2020.

Unlike the most googled search terms, search trends are those terms that received an extraordinary increase in search interest in 2020 compared to the previous year. In addition to the corona virus, it was primarily the US election. But local disasters have also moved people in Germany to look more closely for certain terms or questions. For example, many asked themselves where the hurricane is currently. What was meant was the storm depression Sabine, which swept across some parts of Germany in February and left some major damage. But people were also interested in the Black Lives Matter movement and developments in Australia, where strong fires raged for several weeks.
