How to get We Were Here for PlayStation for free
The game is not actually free. You need a PS Plus subscription, which costs EUR 8.99 per month, EUR 24.99 for three months or EUR 59.99 per year. Within this membership, however, the manufacturer Sony makes several titles available for free download each month, usually three. These titles remain in the player’s media library even after the respective offer has expired.
You also need a PlayStation Network account, which you can use to log into the PS Store. The game is easy to find there. The free offer for PS-Plus subscribers is valid until February 22nd. But then further parts of the “We Were Here” series are to follow.
What good is the game for PS4 and PS5?
The co-op puzzle game “We Were Here” comprises a total of three parts: “We Were Here” (2017), “We Were Here Too” (2018) and “We Were Here Together” (2019). The titles come from the Dutch development studio Total Mayhem Games. The first person adventure game is full of puzzles and puzzle elements that can only be solved together. So far there have been none of the three parts for the PlayStation, so that all of them are now directly available for publication free of charge (at least as part of PS Plus) is surprising.
In the first part, the players are a research duo in the icy Antarctica. There is the lonely, almost enchanted Castle Rock. The interior quickly turns out to be a murderous trap that can only be overcome together. To make matters worse, however, the lock separates the duo, so that players have to solve the puzzles in a coordinated manner in different places. The following two parts tell the story seamlessly, with the third no longer taking place directly in Castle Rock; so it is definitely worth playing all three titles.
The games were very well received on other platforms by both gamers and the press. For example, it won the Indie DB award for best co-op game and received the Game Bakery Award for best narrative design. Downloading “We Were Here” for the PlayStation is definitely worthwhile for everyone who enjoys indie puzzle games.
