Easily change the ring time on the mobile phone using the phone app

Changing the ring duration in the settings can be complicated. It’s easier with phone codes that work on both Android and iOS.

Android and iOS smartphones are different – if you know a setting in one operating system, you don’t necessarily know how the same function can be controlled in the other. But there is one exception: control codes for cellular networks. They are identical for Apple phones and Android devices. A practical function of control codes on the smartphone is the setting of the ring duration. Often 15 seconds are preset by the provider. This is the golden mean of the range that can be set in five-second steps and ranges from 5 to 30 seconds.

Code to change the ringing time on the smartphone

To change the ringing time on the smartphone, you only need to know your network operator and code. For Telefónica / O2 this is 333, Deutsche Telekom has the code 3311 and Vodafone 5500. The codes depend on the network in which users are traveling.

The control code command is ** 61 * code number ** seconds # . In principle, the ringing time on the smartphone can be adjusted in steps of 5. You can choose between 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds. Choose the time wisely – too short and you may not make it to the phone in time. Too long and the ringing can quickly become annoying.

Here is an example for a cell phone in the Vodafone network: If you would like to set the ringtone from a smartphone in this network to 25 seconds, enter the code ** 61 * 5500 ** 25 #.

The code is entered in the phone app on both Android and iOS. To do this, simply open the app and enter the relevant tax code. Then all you have to do is tap on the green telephone receiver symbol as if you wanted to call. The network then confirms the change in the setting with a message. The adjustment of the ring duration on the smartphone is free and can be repeated as often as required.
